Compressor station vibration analysis

resolves unscheduled trips.

Client: Petroleum company.

Tough Problem: The compressor station observed a number of unscheduled trips which were believed to be linked to excessive vibrations. The unit comprised a 3-stage system from which a 4-throw reciprocating compressor is driven by an engine.

Practical Solution: SVT quickly dispatched a field team to do an initial assessment of the dynamic pressure and vibration levels. Subsequent pulsation analysis and Finite Element Analysis enabled SVT to recommend a series of practical changes to resolve the problem: i.e. installation of orifice plates, piping restraints, adjustment of discharge bottle wedge supports and piping restraints.

Bottom Line: Quick response and development of solution resolves reliability problem.
