Client: A designer of storage and equipment for the oil industry.
Tough Problem: A study required the analysis of a skid structure designed for a reciprocating compressor package.
The structure is designed to experience a variety of loading conditions such as lifting, FPSO movement including roll, pitch and yaw and unbalanced forces from equipment.
Practical Solution: A finite element analysis was performed and worst case scenarios of FPSO movement were analysed.
Other loading due to forces generated from reciprocating equipment was also considered.
Analysis was concluded with a detailed fatigue assessment to ensure reliability.
