Low Frequency Noise and Vibration Eliminated
Tough problem:
Two vibration screens running side by side were causing the main administration office at a client’s processing plant to shake and there was a persistent and annoying low frequency noise inside the office.
Practical Solution:
SVT conducted both noise and vibration measurements to determine the physical mechanisms generating the noise and vibration.
The two screens generated a very low frequency beat. SVT proposed linking the drive shafts of the two vibration screens together with a splined shaft and adjusting the phase between the screens until the noise from each screen cancelled each other out.
The Bottom Line:
The noise level inside the admin building dropped by 20 dB. The building stopped shaking and the noise was almost imperceptible.
